Power resiliency has traditionally been provided by diesel generators. With the advent of new technology such as low cost sensors, cloud computing, analytics and the convergence of operational technology with IT, there is expectation that new solutions will arise that will also be more ecologically sustainable. Cities are starting to take advantage of microgrids, as well as other energy efficiency solutions, for example, trash collection. Property owners are beginning to see the value of more efficient buildings which can therefore provide longer run time on back-up power. Analytics are used to identify the best candidate buildings for microgrids and energy efficiency retrofits.
