  • 3.1.2016

WilmerHale Partner Ben Powell, Counsel Jason Chipman and Senior Associates Leah Schloss and Marik String recently contributed to a book, Getting the Deal Through: Cybersecurity, a comprehensive international overview of relevant cybersecurity legislation and regulations. The publication, for which Mr. Powell and Mr. Chipman served as contributing editors, features two WilmerHale-authored chapters.

The chapter “ Global Overview,” coauthored by Mr. Powell, Mr. Chipman and Mr. String, focuses on the expansion of interconnectivity and the use of digital storage and the subsequent growth of cyber threats posed by nation states, commercial competitors, company , transnational organized crime and so-called hacktivists. The chapter titled “ United States,” coauthored by Mr. Powell, Mr. Chipman and Ms. Schloss addresses a number of interesting points, including: which sectors of the US economy are most affected by cybersecurity laws and regulations; what protective measures, at minimum, companies should implement to protect data and IT systems from cyber threats; and whether US authorities recommend any additional cybersecurity protections beyond what is mandated by law.
